 March is coming,

February certainly started off with a bang – lots of snow and beautiful riding and then we got hit by the rain.  It doesn’t appear to have damaged our trail system too much though.  Some members took a ride to Dysart’s for dinner a couple of Sunday’s and there was only one sticky spot where the stream still is not frozen.  More snow is heading our way mid-week we hear.

Last weekend, as you can see below, some of our members decided to try out the trails and had a great day!  It was beautiful out on the trails, but it is apparent that some clubs are having difficulty getting people willing to groom their trails as one trail even had a sign posted that due to a shortage of volunteers, trails are not groomed regularly.

Feel free to send me some pictures to include in future newsletters.

Our upcoming meetings are:  March 14 – Board meeting at 6:00 PM and our Business meeting at 7:00 PM.  April 11 will be our annual meeting.  Are you interested in being a member of the Board of Director’s?  This would be for a three-year term.  This is the meeting to attend and put your name forward.  This is the second of the two-year terms for our current slate of officers.

Be sure to visit the MSA homepage at:  http://mesnow.com/Calendar.html for upcoming events for clubs in the area.  In looking it appears that this weekend is the Log Drivers Cookout in Island Falls.  They have events on Friday and Saturday that might be of interest.  The Rock Maple Racing Snocross is at the Skowhegan Fairgrounds.  That appears to be about everything taking place close to Bangor this weekend.

Don’t forget to stop by on Friday night to see who is around the club house.  If you are available to groom and it has recently snowed, give Michael a call and see what the schedule might be.

Oh yes, the giggles.  I forgot.  Well, it appears that there may have been one member who was a little anxious to go snowmobiling and didn’t have one of his sleds tied down well.  On the way out Broadway it decided it wanted to start coming off the back of the trailer.  Yes, he was being followed and got a call from someone who thought he might want to pull over and adjust things before he got to his destination with only one sled.  Giggle.

The other giggle I will take credit for.  I know enough not to try to climb a bank that the person before me didn’t make.  Just let me off and I’ll walk up thank you.  Someone else can drive my sled up for me.  Ha! Ha!

Remember your safety equipment, let someone know where you are going and when to expect you back, bring a cell phone if you have it, and most of all enjoy yourselves out there.  See you on the trails.
